Palmdale Girl, 8, Struck By Minivan While Running From Ice Cream Truck
PALMDALE (CBSLA.com) — An 8-year-old girl was struck by a minivan Monday after she ran from an ice cream truck in Palmdale.
The collision happened shortly before 3:30 p.m. at 3306 East Avenue R12 near Palmdale Park.
The girl purchased a treat, darted around the truck and was run over by the van, according to Lt. Ken Wright of the Sheriff's Palmdale Station.
The minivan was reportedly driven by an unlicensed 42-year-old woman who stopped and called for help.
The victim suffered multiple fractures and was airlifted to Children's Hospital Los Angeles, where she was in stable condition.
