Metrolink Orange County Line Shut Down After Train Strikes Pedestrian

SANTA FE SPRINGS (CBSLA.com) — Metrolink service was interrupted Friday after a freight train struck a pedestrian in Santa Fe Springs, officials said.

Los Angeles County Fire Department received a call around 5:10 a.m. that an accident occurred at Pioneer Boulevard and Riviera Road.

An unidentified woman in her 20s was struck and killed by a train operated by the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway company.

All tracks on the Orange County line past Norwalk were shut down, according to Metrolink. Buses were on location to transport passengers from Norwalk to Union Station.

No further details were released.
