Covina Teacher Arrested On Suspicion Of Distributing Child Porn

COVINA (CBSLA.com) — A teacher at Royal Oak Middle School has been arrested on suspicion of distributing child pornography on the Internet.

John David Boyle, 49, of Glendora, was arrested Wednesday after he met an undercover operative to view child porn in his classroom, according to Assistant United States Attorney Nicholas Trutanich.

"Boyle set up an in-person meeting with the undercover agent in his classroom at the school on Sunday, believing that the purpose of the meeting was to engage in sexual activity while watching child pornography together. When the undercover agent arrived and presented Boyle with child pornography, he took possession of it." Trutanich said in a statement.

Boyle was not arrested when undercover officers then entered the classroom, but he allowed officials to take over several of his online accounts.

Officials then found that Boyle had used at least one of his email accounts to distribute child pornography and may have had sexual contact with minors on Skype, according to Trutanich.

Authorities believe Boyle, who was arrested Wednesday, may have molested minors and are asking anyone with information about the case to call (866)DHS-2ICE.

He's now facing federal charges and is expected to attend a bail hearing Thursday afternoon.

The investigation is currently being conducted by Homeland Security Investigations and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
