Romance And Intrigue At The Alex Theatre
By Deb Flomberg
As one of the more historic live performance spaces in Southern California, the Alexander Theatre is a beautiful destination for a truly romantic night with your sweetheart. The theatre began its life in 1925 and was a vaudeville and movie house, where it saw a huge popularity until its eventual decline in the 1980s. It was in 1992 that the Glendale Redevelopment Agency invested in the historic space and helped to revitalize it to the beautiful Alex Theatre that you can still visit today.
The Alex Theatre is home to a variety of different companies. The Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles, The Alex Film Society, The Musical Theatre Guild, and the Glendale Youth Orchestra. With all of these different resident companies, it is clear that the Alex offers a great variety of entertainment to be enjoyed.
Whisk your honey out for a night on the town at the Alex Theatre and enjoy the Los Angeles Ballet Academy present a full evening of spectacular ballet. Or if you enjoy musical theatre, then get your tickets early for one of the great Broadway-style musicals being presented by the Musical Theatre Guild. You can also catch classic films courtesy of the Alex Film Society, or enjoy some of the many lectures and nationally-known speakers that tour through the area.
A romantic evening at the theatre starts with a great drive. So be sure to pick up your special sweetheart in the equally special 2013 CL550 Coupe from Mercedes-Benz of Encino. You will arrive at The Alex Theatre in style, ride in comfort, and be delighted with the elegance of your Mercedes-Benz. When the show is over, consider hopping back in your luxurious ride for a cruise down the Pacific Coast Highway or a stop for some drinks at a nearby bar. Mercedes-Benz is the perfect accompaniment to a truly memorable evening.
