HUNTINGTON BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Sunday said a 56-year-old woman was fatally struck by a pickup truck in Huntington Beach.

Investigators said the woman was hit by a Chevrolet Silverado while walking across Yorktown Avenue west of Worchester Lane. The accident occurred about 12:08 a.m.

A statement by the city of Huntington Beach said the victim was pronounced dead at an area hospital.

Her identity was not released pending notification of next of kin.

The driver of the truck, identified as a 35-year-old man, was not cited or arrested, but was questioned at the scene, the statement said.

An investigation was ongoing. Any witnesses of the accident were asked to call Officer Barr at (714) 536-5666.
