Dwight Howard Loses Free Throw Contest To Columnist's Daughter

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — As speculation continues to spread about where Dwight Howard might end up when his free agency takes effect, at least one area of his game still, painfully, leaves much to be desired.

Howard took part in a free throw contest with Los Angeles Times columnist T.J. Simers' daughter, Kelly.

He was on the losing end.

Ultimately, Kelly made five of ten free throws, and Howard made three of nine.

Howard, who had a .492 free throw percentage with the Lakers in 2013, also spoke with Simers, and suggests that he has accepted the idea that, no matter where he ends up, he will have critics.

Furthermore, he says he is done trying to be a people-pleaser.

"I can't do it anymore," Howard said. "I can't please everybody."

Howard went on to say that he was glad he had the opportunity to work with Lakers head coach Mike D'Antoni. Some may take this as the end of the road for his relationship with the Lakers.

Regarding free agency, Howard says he's keeping his options open.

"I want to see what each opportunity offers," Howard said. "I want to see how people plan on winning."
