Dana Point Teen Rode Waves Every Day For 2 Years

DANA POINT (AP) — A 14-year-old Southern California girl has gone surfing every day for two years in her pursuit of becoming a world champion surfer.

The Orange County Register reports Meg Roh paddled out at San Onofre State Beach for her 730th consecutive day of surfing on Friday.

The straight-A student gets up every day at 5 a.m. to check surf reports before heading out, rain or shine, to surf before school.

The Dana Point teen wants to surf for her high school team before going on to college and a world championship.

Meg likes surfing on older longboards, like the vintage 1963 board she rode Friday.

Local surfers say the girl has inspired the saying "Meg Would Go," an encouragement thrown around as surfers assess waves before deciding to paddle out.
