Alleged 'Midnight Bandit' Suspected In Dozens Of SoCal Robberies

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Friday sought the public's help in identifying a person suspected in more than 55 robberies in Southern California.

A statement issued by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said the so-called "Midnight Bandit" has allegedly targeted gas stations and convenience stores for over one year.

The individual is most recently suspected in a March 14, armed robbery in the city of Bell.

Officials say the suspect was captured on tape driving a Jaguar S-type four-door sedan. That robbery occurred about 9:30 a.m.

The statement said the suspect is also accused in heists in at least 17 other cities, including Anaheim, Buena Park, Burbank, and Culver City.

Law enforcement agencies plan to release recently obtained footage and photos of the suspect at a news conference scheduled for Monday.
