Suspect Arrested For Annoying, Endangering Young Girls In Sylmar

SYLMAR (CBSLA.com) — Detectives arrested a 20-year-old suspect Thursday for disturbing young girls in Sylmar.

Jhismer Aguilar was arrested on 14 misdemeanor counts of annoying and endangering children.

Aguilar allegedly approached several girls, between ages 12 and 16 years old, on several different occasions since May 3 in the area of Olive Vista Middle School and Sylmar High School, according to authorities.

"He would circle the schools and call out to victims, sometimes ordering them to get in his car," police said in a statement.

He is being held on $545,000 bail.

Detectives interviewed Aguilar on May 21 after a 12-year-old victim allegedly took a picture of him in his black 1995 Honda.

Police warned Sylmar parents Tuesday of the incidents, and since then, three more victims have come forward.

"But we think there are probably more," Lt. Paul Vernon said.  "We'd like any other persons who might have been approached or accosted by Aguilar to call us."

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Stephen Bell at (818)838-9971.
