By Deb Flomberg
California is a truly historic state, and as such there is a wide variety of missions to tour in the area. Mission San Juan Capistrano is a historic landmark and museum, offering a variety of different tours to help you and your family learn all about the missions and history of Southern California.
Originally established in 1776, this Mission was created to spread the Catholic faith to the Native Americans and has served as a Mission for the Catholic community for 200 years. The Serra Chapel is the center of the Mission, dating back to the 1780s, and has seen a great deal of conservation to protect the statutes, artwork and artifacts located within its walls.
There are 11 different tours to enjoy at Mission San Juan Capistrano. Form the audio tours for adults or children to the tour that explains all about the legends of the Swallows of Capistrano to the new tour of the Serra Chapel, you’ll find many different ways to learn about this historic gem. One of the best ways to tour the Mission is with a Docent Guided Tour, available via reservation only. This tour is hosted by a Docent and will guide you through all 10 acres of the museum rooms, exhibits, fountains, gardens and more.
You’ll also find a wide variety of daily activities at the Mission. There is a great summer craft activity for children offered during the summer months, or you can arrive early to hear the bell ringing for Friar Junipero Serra. You can feed the koi fish, take a class on Native American Basket Weaving or you can even pan for gold and make adobe bricks.
Clearly there is a lot to enjoy at this historic Mission, and you’ll want to take the whole family down to enjoy this tour. That is why the CL63 AMG Coupe from Mercedes-Benz of Encino is the perfect car for this destination, as you will have all the room you need for you and your whole family. Plus, you will be riding in total Mercedes luxury, and arriving in style.
