7 Kids Hurt As Daycare Van Hits Big Rig In Ontario

ONTARIO (AP) — Police said seven children, ranging in ages from six months to 8 years old, were injured when a van from their daycare center collided with a tractor-trailer in Ontario.

The 52-year-old woman driving the van was also hurt, but all the injuries were minor or moderate.

Ontario Cpl. Bill Russell said in a statement that a preliminary investigation shows that the woman ran a red light in the Ford Econoline van on Wednesday afternoon and caused the crash with the big rig. Police said all the children were properly restrained.

The truck driver, a 36-year-old man from Arizona, wasn't hurt.

Police did not say whether any charges or citations were planned. They did not release the names of the victims or their daycare center.
