Fatigued Horse Has To Be Rescued From Santa Ana River Bottom
NORCO (CBSLA.com) — A weak and tired horse had to be rescued Sunday from the Santa Ana river bottom in Norco.
Officials received a call just before noon regarding the horse's condition, according to a spokeswoman for the Riverside County Fire Department.
Firefighters and an animal rescue team went a mile into the trail in the Hidden Valley Wildlife area, said Jody Hagemann of Riverside County Fire.
The horse looked gaunt and emaciated -- no word on how long it might have been there or how it got to the river bottom.
Rescuers set up a hoist on a tripod to get the horse on its feet.
