GLENDALE (CBSLA.com) — A Glendale man faced charges Wednesday for allegedly driving under the influence - and then attempting to hide the evidence - while his two young daughters were not in their car seats, according to reports.

Juan Peralta, 31, was arrested Friday after he was stopped by police shortly after 1 p.m. on Brand Boulevard near California Avenue for allegedly failing to pull over after a collision, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Peralta had initially told police he was in a hurry to get his daughters to the hospital before police - who detected alcohol on his breath - discovered six cans of Budweiser beer inside his daughter's diaper bag, the Times reported.

Police arrested Peralton on suspicion of drunk driving and child endangerment. He remains jailed on $100,000 bail, the Times reported.

In addition to the two young girls not being properly secured in car seats, the mother was also in the car and was not wearing her seat belt, according to the Times.

The arrest comes ahead of planned operations this weekend by the Glendale Police Department's DUI Enforcement Team. Officers will be out in force on Saturday between the hours of 7:00 p.m. and 3:00 a.m. in areas with high frequencies of DUI collisions and/or arrests.
