VALENCIA (CBSLA.com) — Vandals spray-painted racist sayings and anti-Semitic symbols all over numerous HOA complex structures in an upscale Valencia neighborhood over Mother’s Day weekend.
Detectives said at least 20 separate acts of vandalism were discovered at the recreation center, sidewalks and clubhouse buildings in the Tesoro Del Valle subdivision.
Resident Starr Sandak was outraged when her two teenage sons showed her the graffiti.
“This is like, the white picket fence neighborhood where everybody walks their dogs and kids are out playing in the neighborhood and everyone knows each other. It’s completely safe,” she said.
Sandak added, “It’s a shame it has to be there for little ones to see…They hit every single area where someone could see it.”
Police are treating the crime as felony vandalism and a hate incident.
It’s unknown how much damage was sustained.
CBS2’s Suraya Fadel tried to reach out to Tesoro Del Valle management, but was unable to get a response.
