Former Cop In Murrieta Says He Didn't Stalk Ex-Girlfriend

MURRIETA (AP) — A former Murrieta police officer has pleaded not guilty to stalking his ex-girlfriend and other felonies after allegedly attacking her at her workplace and shoving her against a vending machine.

The Riverside Press-Enterprise reports 39-year-old Chad Michael Bennett entered his pleas Friday in incidents dating back to March 2012.

Bennett was detained at Loma Linda University Medical Center, where his ex-girlfriend works, on May 1 after he showed up there and demanded to see her.

Security director James Crowell says Bennett had been asked to stay away from the hospital because he had harassed her there before.

Bennett later told police that he went to the hospital to give his ex-girlfriend a suicide note, which blamed her for most of his problems.

Bennett is being held on $250,000 bail.
