LA PUENTE (CBSLA.com) — A 63-year-old man has died after crashing into a moving vehicle Thursday while bicycling in La Puente.

California Highway Patrol officials said Stephen Lozano was riding east on the north sidewalk of Gemini Street at about 20 mph when he turned into the path of a Lexus traveling westbound at approximately 25 mph.

The collision occurred just before 9 a.m. on Gemini, just east of Azusa Avenue.

Authorities arrived to the scene to find Lozano had suffered blunt force head trauma despite wearing a helmet.

Lozano was taken to Queen of the Valley Hospital in West Covina where he died from his injuries.

The driver of the Lexus, Pomona resident Ofelio Mondragon, was not injured.

No criminal charges have been filed.
