SANTA CLARITA (CBSLA.com) — Sheriff's investigators identified a suspect Thursday in a shootout with deputies in Santa Clarita.

Corey Kieffer, 28, of Canyon Country, was allegedly involved in an armed assault on Santa Clarity Valley Sheriff's deputies near Adon Avenue and Sierra Highway at approximately 7:20 p.m. on Wednesday evening.

Authorities have so far been unsuccessful in a nightlong extensive search for Kieffer in an area bordering Sierra Highway, Soledad Canyon Road and Sarabande Lane.

Kieffer is described as approximately 5'9" tall, weighs 140 pounds, has brown hair and hazel eyes. He was last seen wearing a blue shirt, gray shorts and a blue hat.

Investigators say Kieffer is a transient, a known drug user, and is known to frequent the wash area near Camp Plenty Road and Soledad Canyon Road.

Kieffer is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information on Kieffer is asked to call 911.
