Gas Leak On Boeing Property Forces Street Closures, Evacuations

EL SEGUNDO (CBSLA.com) — A reported gas leak in El Segundo forced street closures and evacuations, police said Thursday.

Police received a call around 10:10 a.m. of a possible gas leak at 2260 East Imperial Highway, according to El Segundo Police.

The leak - which was on private property owned by aviation contractor Boeing - was caused by an unspecified construction accident, police said.

About 800 people were evacuated from a Boeing building, according to officials.

Both westbound and eastbound Imperial Highway was closed between Sepulveda and Nash due to the leak. Officials reopened both lanes by 1:30 p.m.

No other details were immediately available.
