FONTANA (CBSLA.com) — Firefighters Tuesday rescued a Fontana worker trapped under 1,000 pounds of granite in a truck.

The incident happened around 5 p.m. in the 11600 block of Industry.

A spokesman for the San Bernardino County Fire Department said employees were in the process of loading granite slabs in the back of the truck when the rock collapsed and trapped one of the men inside.

Crews cut out the backside of the vehicle and were able to bring the victim to safety shortly before 6:30 p.m. He was taken to the hospital in unknown condition.
