Summer is around the corner and that means music under the stars at the Hollywood Bowl! June 22nd marks opening night for the Bowl and if you haven’t experienced a summer concert in one of the best open-air venues in the world, what are you waiting for? The official Bowl series hosts a solid line-up from Josh Groban to Queen Latifah, the LA Phil, and even Willy Nelson. Plus, their lease events are stellar – Fleetwood Mac takes the stage on May 25th and June is host to Playboy’s 35th Annual Jazz Festival.
For those of you who are new to the Bowl scene, here are a few tips to make your experience more enjoyable:
Bring a picnic – The Bowl allows you to bring in your own food so why not go gourmet? Many local restaurants offer picnics-to-go so all you have to do is order in advance and pick it up (I recommend Joan’s On Third).
Bring a blanket – it may be hot when you get there but when the sun sets it gets chilly and with metal bleachers your bum will appreciate a blanket to sit on, or plan to dance enough to keep warm.
Know when you can bring in beverages – The Hollywood Bowl concert series allows you to bring in a bottle of wine, and even wine glasses if you’re the hoighty-toighty kind. However, the lease events do not allow you to bring in any beverages so leave your favorite bottle behind or be prepared to drink it outside of the entrance.
Park at Hollywood & Highland – the parking at the Bowl can be maddening so avoid the crowds and park at Hollywood & Highland and take the shuttle up the street. Other mass transportation options can be found on their website.
It’s always a magical night under the stars at the Hollywood Bowl so time to start planning before tickets are sold out.
