Wells Fargo Looking To Fill Nearly 400 Positions In L.A. And Surrounding Counties

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Wells Fargo is looking to fill nearly 400 positions in Los Angeles and surrounding counties.

Founded in 1852, Wells Fargo & Company offered banking and express services via stagecoach to gold rush pioneers in the west. One of the company's original stagecoaches can be found on display at the Wells Fargo Museum in downtown Los Angeles. Today, the company employs 265,000 people in 35 countries around the world.

Camelia Easmin was trained on the job at Wells Fargo two years ago. Today, she is a personal banker, assisting customers as on all types of financial products and services at a branch in Southern California. She says she enjoys interracting with customers and doesn't miss her previous job delivering mail.

And as a single mother, she likes working the banking hours of 9 a.m. to 6p.m.

"I just drop my daughter off in the morning and then I come to work," said Easmin. "And then I get off at 6 o'clock and it lets me get back home to my family life."

Alan Lee, a recent graduate from Chapman University and a Wells Fargo customer, has worked as a teller for three months. A Wells Fargo customer himself, Lee went on the bank's website and applied for a teller position open near his apartment.

"People think all you do is handle cash and that's it," said Lee. "But I think the biggest part of my every day job is handling customers and talking to them and making sure that their experience at Wells Fargo is a good experience."

Though his true passion is hip-hop dancing, Lee sees his career choice as wise one because of the security it offers at this stage of his life.

"There's definitely full benefits, which is great, especially for someone who just graduated from college," Lee said.

The bank says bilingual bankers are a plus. Both Lee and Easmin speak a foreign language.

Tellers start out earning $11 an hour, and personal bankers are salaried employees starting at $35,000 a year. All Wells Fargo employees are eligible for full benefits, as well as quarterly bonuses and tuition reimbursement.

"I would definitely apply for Wells Fargo or even walk in and ask one of us how much we love our job," Easmin said. "It's a great company to work for."
