Man Arrested For Attempted Kidnapping Of Teen In OC; Police Seek Accomplice
SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — Police arrested a man and are searching for another Wednesday after the pair allegedly attempted to abduct a 15-year-old girl in Orange County.
The suspects were in a red Toyota Corolla when 28-year-old Moises Rendon allegedly got out of the car and tried to incapacitate the girl as she walked to Valley High School.
Rendon, who was a passenger in the Toyota, was reportedly wearing gloves and holding a rag, which police believe had a chemical on it to subdue the victim.
The girl sensed someone behind her, saw the rag and ran away, police said.
Authorities arrested Rendon around 8:25 a.m. near the 1200 block of S. Sullivan St. after a witness followed the Toyota and told police a man jumped out of the car and ran into a home on South Sullivan Street.
The suspect was identified by the victim, according to police.
Officials continue to search for the driver, mentioning the Toyota has a spoiler on the rear.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Santa Ana Police Department.
