HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) —A man was arrested Thursday after he allegedly threatened to blow up a Hooters in Hollywood.

Police said the suspect walked inside the restaurant in the 6900 block of Hollywood Blvd. around 4:45 p.m. and told customers he had a bomb in his lunch pail.

He then reportedly left the box inside and walked out.

A portion of Hollywood Blvd. and the Chinese Theatre were closed while the bomb squad investigated. Authorities detonated the lunch box outside the eatery.

The suspect later told police the entire situation was a joke.
