'American Pie' Actor Held At Knifepoint Prompting Hollywood Hills Barricade Situation

HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — A woman reportedly armed with a knife barricaded herself inside a Hollywood Hills home Wednesday.

Police were called to the 2500 block of Hargrave Drive at 1:09 p.m., according to Los Angeles police officer Christopher No.

Unconfirmed reports said the woman was holding "American Pie" actor Eddie Kaye Thomas (he played Finch) in the home against his will using a large kitchen knife. He managed to escape without injury and called police, but the unidentified woman kept police at bay for more than six hours.

LAPD Lt. Andrew Neiman said the woman had spent the night at the home but became angry and very agitated when she was asked to leave in the morning and subsequently armed herself with a knife.

Police sharpshooters were dispatched to he scene, along with hostage negotiators.

Officials said tear gas was used to get the woman to eventually surrender. A neighbor told CBS2's Suraya Fadel "the sound of the tear gas was louder than I thought it would be. It echoed through the canyon."

The woman was taken into custody around 7:30 p.m. and placed in an ambulance.

Officials said she would likely be booked for assault with a deadly weapon and vandalism.

Police told Fadel that during the standoff the woman did "substantial" damage to the property.
