'Peeping Tom' Arrested For Using Cellphone To View Up Women's Skirts

PANORAMA CITY (CBSLA.com) —  Police have arrested a Peeping Tom suspect after he was caught using his cellphone to view up women's skirts in the San Fernando Valley.

Joaquin Cortes Rodriguez, 33, was arrested on April 12 on a misdemeanor Peeping Tom charge, Los Angeles police said.

According to officials, a female customer at a Panorama City AMPM store caught Rodriguez in the act on April 3.

The crime was also captured on the store's surveillance camera.

"The female witness never confronted the man in the store, but followed the victim to the parking lot and told the fellow customer what happened," Det. Stephen Bell said. "The victim took pictures of the man in his car and of the car's license plate."

Detectives later contacted Rodriquez at his Monrovia home where they were able to use his statement and the victim's evidence to get an arrest warrant.

Rodriguez is being held on a $50,000 bond in addition to a federal immigration hold.

Authorities say he had been previously deported and re-entered the country illegally.
