PALMDALE (CBSLA.com) — Authorities are looking for a 13-year-old boy who disappeared in Palmdale Monday morning.

Nigel Hardy was reported missing at 9:15 a.m. in the 2300 block of West Avenue N-8, according to detectives from the sheriff’s Palmdale Station.

Officials said the boy became despondent after he was temporarily suspended from school.

Hardy’s father reportedly found a suicide note from his son and also realized his firearm was missing.

No threat was made against the boy’s school in the note, but the unidentified campus was placed on a state of heightened awareness.

Hardy is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall, 130 pounds, with dark brown wavy hair. He was wearing a black long sleeve shirt, dark pants and gray Nike shoes.

Anyone with information on the boy’s whereabouts is asked to call (661) 272-2400.
