9-Year-Old Shot In Leg After Man Opens Fire On Ex-Girlfriend In Bell Gardens

BELL GARDENS (CBSLA.com) — A 9-year-old boy was shot in the leg Monday morning when a man opened fire on his ex-girlfriend in Bell Gardens.

The incident happened after 8 a.m. near Gotham Street and Gephart Avenue, according to Lt. Scott Fairfield of the Bell Gardens Police Department.

Giovanni Orozco, 23, pulled up in a car alongside his ex-girlfriend and fired shots as she tried to drive away.

The boy, who was the woman's nephew, was sitting in the back seat of her vehicle when he was struck by gunfire.

He was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.

The suspect was later arrested.
