2 Young Boys Dead, 1 Injured In Pomona Triple Shooting

POMONA (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Saturday said two young boys have died and a third person was in critical condition following a triple shooting in Pomona.

Pomona police say they responded to the 300 block of Orchid Lane after receiving numerous calls of shots being fired about 1:19 a.m.

Upon arriving on scene, officers found the first victim, CBS2's Joy Benedict reports.

He was identified by loved ones as 16-year-old Andy Chavez from Pomona. Chavez was pronounced dead at the scene.

His 13-year-old friend was also shot. The unidentified victim was taken to a hospital where he died a short time later.

Police say a third victim was involved in a minor traffic collision after being struck by gunfire. He was airlifted to USC Medical Center in critical condition.

The shooting is being investigated. No arrests have been made. The shooter remains at large, investigators said.
