The closures between Pico Canyon Road/Lyons Avenue and State Route 14 will last through April 20, the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announced Friday.

Caltrans says that up to three lanes of the 5 Freeway in each direction between the end of the existing truck lane and Lyons Ave. will be closed from 9 p.m. through 6 a.m.

The southbound 5 Freeway connector to the northbound 14 Freeway will also be closed.

Caltrans says at least one lane will be open at all times with the most restrictive closures occurring between midnight and 4 a.m.

Construction of the 3.7-mile truck lane began last May and is expected to be complete in 2014. The northbound lane will extend 1.4 miles.
