Teen Suffers Possible Back Injuries In 30-Foot Fall In Malibu Creek State Park

CALABASAS  (CBSLA.com) —  A 16-year-old Westlake Village resident suffered possible back injuries Sunday sustained in a 30-foot fall at  Malibu Creek State Park in Calabasas.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Malibu Search and Rescue Team, together with Los Angeles County Fire Department and California State Parks personnel were called to the park about 3 p.m. to respond to a report of a fallen climber.

When rescuers arrived, they determined that a 16-year old male resident of Westlake Village had fallen 30 feet into the "rock pool."

On site, they believed he suffered possible back injuries. After being evaluated on scene by LA County Fire paramedics, the victim was then transported -- with full C-spine precautions -- into a waiting ambulance.

The teen was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation and treatment of his injuries.
