"The Mission Play" took to the stage this weekend, charts the journey of Father Junipero Serra and his band of followers as they struggle to bring Catholicism to the indigenous population of California. It was written in 1911 and adapted for modern audiences in celebration of the city of San Gabriel's centennial.

The show looks at the many cultures that shaped the state into what it is today.

Viewers will be treated to Spanish flamenco, Native American and Chinese dance performances.
