LANCASTER ( — Authorities Saturday said a man has been arrested after allegedly hitting his girlfriend and their 4-year-old daughter with a brick.

A witness told Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies that the suspect, identified the suspect as 29-year-old Omar Martin, allegedly struck both victims on the head.

They were transported to an area hospital, a department statement said. Their current condition was not known.

The incident occurred about 3:20 p.m. Friday in the 42200 block of 20th Street West in Lancaster.

The statement said Martin is the boyfriend of the woman, who is 23.

He fled in a green Ford sedan with his 6-year-old son.

“Within minutes, deputies from the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station observed the suspect Martin walking into his home located in the 42200 block of Blueflax Avenue,”
the statement said.

Shortly after, Martin was taken into custody after a brief struggle, authorities said.

He is being on $1,000,000 bail on charges of attempted murder, assault on a police officer, and child abuse.
