8-Year-Old Girl Battling Leukemia Becomes Chef For A Day

RIVERSIDE (CBSLA.com) — An 8-year-old girl battling leukemia was a cupcake queen for a day Friday, thanks to a Riverside bakery and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Sarah Poulson, who received a bone marrow transplant five years ago, has dreams of becoming a chef when she gets older.

Her wish was granted at Casey's Cupcakes, where the young girl helped make and decorate cupcakes in the kitchen, signed autographs, and then became a celebrity judge to pick the best treat.

Sarah's parents, Gary and Maurina Poulson, said they hope their daughter's condition continues to improve so she can cook for others in the future.

"It's just amazing that we're actually here and she's actually improving, slowly, but it's happening," said Gary.
