Authorities Find Possible Explosive Materials In Westminster Home

WESTMINSTER (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Tuesday found possible explosive materials in a Westminster home.

At about 5 p.m., a 40-something man entered UC Irvine Medical Center with burns on his body.

Doctors thought his second- and third-degree burns were suspicious, so they sent police and fire authorities to the victim's house in the 15300 block of Vermont Street.

Police discovered pyrotechnics in the man's garage, according to Sky2's Gil Leyvas. They believe the homeowner was making homemade fireworks.

The bomb squad was called to the scene.

Nearby homes were evacuated.

The investigation is ongoing.
