7 Hurt In Collision Near LA's Historic Olvera Street

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Firefighters say seven people have been hurt in a traffic collision near Los Angeles' historic Olvera Street in downtown Los Angeles.

The accident was reported about 10:15 a.m. Sunday in the 100 block of Arcadia Street.

The crash reportedly involved a law enforcement vehicle that struck a van, which then overturned.

Katherine Main, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Fire Department, says first responders used the Jaws of Life to pry open the wreckage.

Six rescue ambulances were reportedly dispatched to the crash site.

Of the seven transported, four patients were said to have been seriously injured. The other three were in fair condition, Main said.

The circumstances surrounding the crash could not immediately be confirmed.
