Boy, 17, Fatally Shot At House Party In Lancaster

LANCASTER (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Saturday continued to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a 17-year-old boy in Lancaster.

The incident occurred about 1 a.m. in the 700 block of East Avenue K, according to a statement issued by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Investigators say officers were initially dispatched to the location following a report of a loud house party and heard gunshots. Numerous agencies responded shortly after.

According to the statement, a fight broke out at the party and shots were fired.

The victim, identified as Kevin Tatum of Compton, was struck by gunfire. Tatum died at the scene.

Police believe the shooting is gang-related.
