Paralyzed Man Shot To Death In Willowbrook Home

WILLOWBROOK (CBSLA.com) — Detectives Friday are investigating the fatal shooting of a paralyzed man who was killed inside his home.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies responded to a call of a gunshot victim at a home in the 2000 block of 130th Street around 8:25 p.m. Thursday, officials said.

"Upon their arrival they discovered a 26 year-old male Black victim who was paralyzed from the waist down, lying on the living room floor of his home suffering from several gunshot wounds," Deputy Peter Gomez said in a news release.

The paralysis was from a preexisting condition.

Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

"Witnesses claim they heard gunshots coming from the location and when they checked the location, they discovered the victim had been shot inside his home," Gomez said.

No suspect was seen leaving the residence, according to authorities. Detectives believe the shooting was possibly gang related.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
