Boxing Coach, 45, Pleads Guilty To Molesting 2 Boys, Both 14

SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — A 45-year-old boxing coach admitted Friday to molesting two 14-year-old boys.

Anthony Serrano was immediately sentenced to two years behind bars.

Serrano coached kids at the Santa Ana Boxing Club in the 900 block of East Fourth Street.

After his plea (guilty of four felony counts involving lewd acts on a child), Orange County Superior Court Judge Robert Fitzgerald ordered Serrano to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life.

If convicted, Deputy District Attorney Keith Burke said Serrano faced up to five years in prison.

Serrano, who was arrested last July, will complete his sentence this summer, his attorney Dennis O'Connell said.

Serrano took the plea deal because he did not want the boys to have to testify, O'Connell said.

One of the boys said Serrano molested him, starting when he was 14 years old, between May 2011 and April of last year, Burke said.

The other boy was molested in Serrano's home, beginning when he was 14 years old, between May and October 2006, Burke said.

The boy molested from 2011-2012 told the judge he attends regular therapy sessions because of the abuse, Burke said.
