12-Year-Old Girls Allegedly Make False Gun Report To Ditch Pomona School

POMONA (CBSLA.com) — Two 12-year-old girls were arrested Friday after they allegedly made a false report that a classmate had a gun at a Pomona middle school.

An Emerson Middle School student went home for lunch and told her mother she saw a boy with a weapon.

The girl's mother notified authorities about the reported situation, which prompted a brief campus lockdown and a thorough search of the area.

"As the search was occurring, information became available indicating that the report may have been fabricated by two female students that were no longer on the school grounds," said Sgt. Lena Becker of the Pomona Police Department.

Officials said the students lied because they wanted to go home early from school.

Police have released the youths to their parents.
