Burglary, Assault Suspects Lead Police On Pursuit From Long Beach To Elysian Park

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A pursuit that began in Long Beach and went through Los Angeles came to an end in Elysian Park Thursday morning.

Authorities received a call at 5:05 a.m. from Virginia Country Club security guards after they confronted two burglary suspects, according to Nancy Pratt of the Long Beach Police Department.

The security guards fired shots at the men when they attempted to run over them with a silver BMW SUV, according to Pratt.

Sky2 was overhead as the silver SUV traveled at high rates of speed along Interstate 5 and the 710 and 10 freeways, as well as surface streets in South Los Angeles.

Long Beach police initially chased the suspect on the 710 Freeway, but passed the pursuit off to the California Highway Patrol.

The chase, which lasted for at least 45 minutes, came to an end just before 6 a.m.

The suspects will be charged with burglary and assault with a deadly weapon, Pratt said.
