Pursuit Suspect Dies Following Officer-Involved Shooting In Santa Ana

SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — One of two men shot by police earlier this month during a stolen-vehicle pursuit has died.

Jason Hallstrom died Saturday, eight days after the March 15 officer-involved shooting occurred at 15th Street and Grand Avenue.

Two SWAT team members had chased 41-year-old Hallstrom and the other suspect, 29-year-old Travis Mock, along Interstate 5.

The men were shot when they crashed a stolen beige Nissan Sentra and attempted to run away, but it was unclear if they were armed.

They were taken to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana, where Mock was treated for his injuries and released.

He has pleaded not guilty to unlawful taking of a vehicle and other charges.
