Man Wounded In Echo Park Officer-Involved Shooting

ECHO PARK (CBSLA.com) — A man was in stable condition Tuesday morning after he was wounded in an officer-involved shooting in Echo Park.

The shooting occurred just after midnight Tuesday at a bus stop at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Echo Park Avenue, Los Angeles police said.

Officers were dispatched to the scene after they received a call about a man with a gun. After they arrived, the suspect, a Hispanic male in his 40s, refused to drop the weapon, pointed something in the direct of police and an officer-involved shooting occurred, Sgt. Frank Preciado told KNX 1070's Margaret Carrero.

Authorities are trying to determine if the suspect, who was transported to a local hospital for treatment, had fired the weapon prior to the officers arrival or if he was just brandishing a gun.

No officers were injured in the shooting.

The intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Echo Park Avenue was closed for several hours due to the investigation.
