Rapper Lil Wayne Says He's 'Good' Amid Near Death Reports

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Rapper Lil Wayne said he's doing fine Friday despite conflicting reports that he's near death.

The 30-year-old hip-hop artist, whose publicist said he is doing well after suffering from a seizure, posted a short message to his fans on Twitter around 6:30 p.m.

Rapper Mack Maine echoed Wayne's sentiments on his own Twitter account and blasted the media for the false reports.

TMZ reported the rapper was in a medically-induced coma and breathing through tubes after overdosing on sizzurp, a drink made with prescription codeine cough syrup, on Wednesday.

The entertainment website said Lil Wayne, whose real name is Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., was originally rushed to Cedars-Sinai hospital Tuesday after suffering multiple seizures.

He was reportedly released Wednesday, but was taken to the hospital again hours later after the codeine binge, TMZ said.

At one point, TMZ said Wayne was about to receive his last rites.
