2 Stolen Car Suspects Seriously Wounded In Santa Ana Officer-Involved Shooting
SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — Two stolen car suspects were shot and seriously wounded by police Friday afternoon in Santa Ana.
The OIS occurred just before 3 p.m. at 15th Street and Grand Avenue, according to Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna.
The suspects were taken to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana, Bertagna said. No officers were injured, he said.
Santa Ana police said two SWAT team members were chasing the suspects driving in a stolen beige Nissa Sentra on the 5 Freeway.
Both of the suspects — now identified as 41-year-old Jason Erling Hallstrom and 29-year-old Travis Stuart Mock — were reportedly shot in the back.
Bertagna said the investigation into the shooting is in the preliminary stages.
Officials did not say how many shots were fired at the suspects or if they brandished weapons.
