Long Beach State Holds Off Fullerton To Move On In Big West Tourney

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) James Ennis scored 15 points, Deng Deng had 12 and top seeded Long Beach State advanced in the Big West Conference tournament with a 75-66 win over Cal State Fullerton on Thursday night.

Tied at 18 with 12:31 to play before halftime, Ennis hit back-to-back layups to spark a 23-13 run by Long Beach State (19-12) to end the first half with a 41-31 lead. The 49ers trailed only once in the contest when Alex Harris made a 3-pointer to make it 3-2 Titans in the first minute of the game.

Harris and Kwame Vaughn each had 19 points for eighth-seeded Cal State Fullerton (14-18), which had 18 assists as a team.

The 49ers are a perfect 3-0 against the Cal State Fullerton this season.

Long Beach State will play in the semifinals Friday against the winner of the No. 4 UC Irvine and No. 5 Hawaii game.
