BUENA PARK (CBSLA.com) — Four Orange County Authority firefighters were injured Wednesday evening after their fire truck crashed into a massive pine tree in Buena Park.
The accident occurred just after 7:05 p.m.
Witnesses said the driver tried to negotiate a sharp turn and ended up banking the curb on two wheels.
Preliminary reports from the scene said that one firefighter was seriously hurt but Marc Stone, a public information officer for Orange County Authority, told CBS2′s Stacey Butler that the injuries ranged “from minor to moderate … nothing life-threatening.”
The four firefighters were taken to UC Irvine Medical Center for treatment for their injuries.
A witness told Butler she heard what sounded like a bomb going off. “I heard sirens, then skidding and then a tremendous thud.”
The woman, who lived across the street from the crash, came out of her home and saw “the fire truck wrapped around the tree.”
