WEST COVINA (CBSLA.com) — Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying two suspects wanted in connection to a robbery and assault at a West Covina JC Penney store.

The crime was caught on surveillance on Sunday, Feb. 24 at the West Covina Westfield Shopping Center, police said.

A male and female suspect, who were with two small children, were seen inside the JC Penney placing items onto a baby stroller and trying on shoes, West Covina police said.

The couple then attempted to exit the store with the items, but was confronted by a Loss Prevention Agent.

“When the Loss Prevention Agent began to approach the female, the male ran up to him and punched him on his face,” Officer Rudy Lopez said in a statement. “The male suspect chased the Loss Prevention Agent back into the store where he knocked him down and began striking him several times before running out of the store.”

The Agent suffered a fractured nose, cuts, bruises and swelling to the face.

The male suspect is described as a white or Hispanic man, between 20 and 30-years-old, 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 9 inches, and 165 to 185 pounds. He had a shaved head, thin brown mustache and beard with distinctive tattoos on both arms. He wore a black t-shirt and black pants at the time of the crime, authorities said.

The female suspect is described as a Hispanic woman, 20 to 30-years-old, with brown or black collar-length hair. She is between 5 feet 2 inches and 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing approximately 130 pounds, police said.

She was wearing a black sleeveless blouse, jeans, sandals and a small black and white striped purse.

“The female was pushing a black stroller occupied with a small toddler, and had an elementary school age female child with dark hair also with her,” Officer Lopez said.

Anyone with information about either suspect should contact the West Covina Police Department at (626) 939-8557.
