IRVINE (CBSLA.com) — Two pedestrians were killed Tuesday morning after a car driven by a teenage boy veered off the road and struck the victims.
The 65-year-old man and 61-year-old woman were walking on the east side of Eastwood near Venta Spur Trail around 7:30 a.m. when they were hit by a Honda.
The older man was found with severe trauma injuries and was transported to the hospital, where he later died.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 17-year-old driver, who was reportedly on his way to school, wasn’t hurt.
It’s unclear why the boy’s car left the roadway, said Irvine police Lt. Julia Engen.
Anyone with information about the crash is encouraged to contact Sgt. Matt August at (949) 724-7023.
