Moreno Valley School Board Member Gets Prison For Pimping, Fraud
RIVERSIDE (CBSLA.com) — A Moreno Valley school board member was sentenced Friday to 14 years and four months in prison for running a sex-for-money operation and filing fraudulent insurance claims.
Mike Rios was convicted Feb. 8 of 23 felonies — 12 counts of pimping, five counts of pandering and six counts of insurance fraud.
KNX 1070’s Mike Landa reports the 42-year-old ran a prostitution ring involving three women out of his Moreno Valley home.
Rios also used a variety of means to attempt to get another woman and two juvenile girls to work for him, including offering the use of his Hummer vehicle, the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office said.
The other counts involve Rios filing false insurance claims following a vehicle accident.
He is also charged with two counts of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and influencing testimony by bribe in separate case. Rios due back in court on those charges on April 12.
