STUDIO CITY (CBSLA.com) — We are in the thick of a winter storm this morning. There are some heavy pockets of rain moving through the area and snow levels are dropping.

Snow accumulation above 5,000 feet could be up to eight inches, and snow will stick to the ground in areas as low as 3,500 feet. Interstate 5 could see up to three inches of accumulation.

A flood advisory has been issued from the rain and that is for some water standing in intersections and on freeways. We can expect showers through the morning, and even into the afternoon.

As the low is overhead this morning, there is also the possibility of an isolated thunderstorm or water spout. The rain should transition to showers throughout the later morning and afternoon.

There is a wave of energy tomorrow morning that will also keep us unsettled. Winds will also be an issue through the day. As the low exits the region, look for the possibility for wind advisories late Saturday and Sunday.

By Monday, high pressure builds into the area and we should be dry for the rest of the extended forecast.
